The Rapid Growth of Tech

Posted in technology on March 27, 2008 by Grim

The size of this matter may be a bit to much to cover in one post but i feel it’s something that many people are unaware of. Science-fiction and modern technology are closer to merging that many people think, jet-packs, flying cars , and even mechanical super suits are all things that exist here and now, the main reason you don’t own one or have even heard about it is simply a matter of cost and practicality.

Take for instance my last example of a super suit the earliest model i heard of was the HAL3 which came out back in 2005, it used sensors that responded to brainwaves so that the suit could assist people with walking without the need for them to use their muscles to trigger a response. more recently a suit using air pressure and hydraulics came out, promising to assist the elderly by enabling them to lift another person with relative ease. It all seems to be a fairly reasonable way to assist the handicapped or elderly, but then i think of all the military applications of the technology; the same technology that can help a little old lady lift her dog can also enable a soldier to flip a hummer. I don’t want to go off into some tangent where i make this whole post sound like a conspiracy theory i just wanted you to know that all technology can have a bit of a dark side.

In conclusion, most of the gadgets that you always thought that only the Jetson’s would own, are actually things that exist in the here and now. ill continue to post technologies that I feel are fairly cutting edge and things that most people assume simply haven’t been created yet. http://www.newscientist.com/article.ns?id=mg18624945.800hal3.jpg

Creating a Username

Posted in Uncategorized on February 7, 2008 by Grim

my first impression with the site is good. It was simple to interact with and  lead you through the creation process well. However, the only problem i had was with the creation of my username. Personally i like to create somthing with some level of meaning, but sadly this could not be the case.  Seing as I’m apparently the 10 billionth person to create a blog here everything that i wanted was taken without using some random string of numbers. To put this in perspective i’ve been trying to make this blog since YESTERDAY! I even tried the name lawngnome, LAWNGNOME…..i mean who picks that name honestly. But at any rate i finally made my way into the digital realm and im excited to us the css editor on my own blog :) .
